The provisions of The Prevention of Money Laundering Act, 2002 (PMLA) and KRA Regulations (2011), has made it mandatory for all Market Participants to comply with the 'Know Your Client' (KYC) norms. In this regard, CVL has created the necessary infrastructure in order to handle the KYC in accordance to the KRA Regulations (2011).As a result, all Investors will now have to submit their PAN card copy (which serves as Proof of Identity (PoI)) and Proof of Address (PoA) only once with any of the intermediary it deals with.
KRA stands for KYC Registration Agency, which is an agency that maintains KYC records for investors in the securities market:
Purpose
KRAs centralize KYC records to ensure uniformity in KYC requirements across the securities market
How it works
When a client opens an account with a SEBI-registered intermediary, they submit KYC details and supporting documents. The intermediary then uploads the details to the KRA's system.
Benefits
Clients only need to complete KYC once with a SEBI-registered intermediary. Other intermediaries can access the client's KYC information from the KRA database.
You can check your KRA status by:
Visiting the https://www.nsekra.com/ or CVL KRA websites and entering your PAN under KYC inquiry
Clicking the link in an email or SMS from the KRA to validate your email address
Validating your Aadhaar details on the KRA website
If your details on the KRA portal are incorrect, you can do a ReKYC to update them.
